Join assistant objects conservator Eve Mayberger to learn more about “Conservation in Action: Japanese Buddhist Sculpture in a New Light.” MFA conservators are currently treating seven painted and gilded wooden sculptures from the 9th to the 12th centuries in a public conservation studio. The gradual relocation of the sculptures from the Museum’s beloved Japanese Buddhist Temple Room, where they normally reside, enables visitors to see the objects in a new setting for the first time in decades. Hear about conservators’ findings and get a closer look at these important sculptures.
