The Arts

“Contemporary Art: Five Propositions,” features works created as long ago as 1899 and as recently as 2019. Arranged in five thematic groups, they address a wide range of topics and ideas, such as artistic process, complex relationships between humans and the natural world, the body, gender, and failed utopias. Join Akili Tommasino, Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, to explore a selection of works in this collection-based exhibition, as well as the work of Houston-born, New York-based artist Robert Pruitt on view in the inaugural “Banner Project.”
