Current Affairs Politics

India and Pakistan are never far from crisis. They seem to have flirted even closer to the edge in 2019. In Kashmir, India unilaterally changed the constitutional status of the disputed state and war planes were crossing borders on each side. In India, the rise of Narendra Modi has fanned ever-greater Hindu nationalism. In Pakistan, the always-fragile politics becomes even more fragile. And all of that, even before COVID-19.

Dr. Adil Najam, the inaugural Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, speaks on the relationship between India and Pakistan and what the future might hold for this burning hotspot?

Prof. Adil Najam is the Inaugural Dean of the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University and a former Vice Chancellor of the Lahore University of Management Sciences in Pakistan. His research focuses on issues of global public policy, especially those related to global climate change, South Asia, Muslim countries, environment and development, and human development. He has served as a Trustee of The Asia Foundation, WWF-International, the International institute for Applied Systems Analysis, and the Chair of the Board of the Luc Hoffmann Institute and the South Asian Network of Development and Environment Economics (SANDEE).
