Violence Transformed is an annual series of visual arts events that celebrate the power of art, artists, and art-making to confront, challenge, and mediate violence. Violence Transformed documents the ways in which our diverse communities harness art’s potential to effect social change and materially transform our environments.

Join us for an opening reception on March 30, 2016 from 6:30 to 9:00 pm in the Harriet Tubman Gallery, 566 Columbus Avenue. The reception is free and open to the public and will feature a video presentation from filmmaker Jon Lowenstein, a panel discussion, an art-making activity, light refreshments, and an opportunity to meet some of the talented local artists exhibited in the show.

Participating artists include:

• Kimberlee Alemian • Gail Bos • Aaron Bourque • Judith Carlin • Robert Castagna • Walter Crump • Don Cooper • Carol Daynard • Darrel Gane-McCalla • Sheila Hazen • Loretta Hubley • Marjorie Kaye • Jon Lowenstein • Katrina Majkut • Beverly Rippel • Ruth Rosner • George Shaw • Becky Strohm • Anne Strout
