For nearly four decades, as the head of the Museum’s paper conservation laboratory, guest lecturer, Roy Perkinson has been privileged to get to know the pastels in “French Pastels: Treasures from the Vault” very well. Stroll through the exhibition, as Perkinson shares some of the surprising things he has discovered about how Degas, Cassatt, and other artists made their pastels, sometimes using untraditional methods and materials.
