Join objects conservator Abigail Hykin to learn about the Museum’s next Conservation in Action project: Japanese Buddhist sculpture from the MFA’s beloved Buddhist Temple Gallery. As that gallery is temporarily closed for building upgrades, Gallery 280 has been transformed into a Conservation in Action studio. MFA objects conservators will treat painted and gilded wooden sculpture from the 9th to the 12th centuries, sharing their work and findings and allowing visitors to get a closer look at these important works before they return after treatment to the meditative space of the Buddhist Temple Gallery.
